Printer's scrapbook, 1878-1914.

The Printer's Scrapbook, compiled by William H. Smart, was first used as Smart's account ledger for his billposting and printing business. The scrapbook lists the names of his clients, the work he provided, and the amounts received. Pasted into the scrapbook are small broadsides, programs, tickets, and announcements. The bulk of the publicity was for entertainment performed at Academy Hall, Proudfit Hall, and the Salem Opera House located in Salem, N.Y. Included in the scrapbook are articles clipped from newspapers, photographs and postcards of female artists, and postage stamps.
